A few months ago we introduced Rain of Hope and its mission: to teach individuals that we all have the power to shape our community. Regardless of age – you have a voice and you CAN make a difference!
Over the past year, we have been working hard to build our organization, and each step is worth celebrating. Here are some of the highlights, from behind the scenes:
In August, we filed with the State of Connecticut as a non-profit organization. Today, we received confirmation that we are also filed with the Department of Consumer Protection (CT) as a public charity! This means that in addition to being recognized as a legitimate non-profit, we are now able to accept online donations. We have also filed with the IRS to be recognized as a 501(c)(3).
Working closely with professors and students at Southern Connecticut State University’s Elementary Education program, we have been receiving guidance on how best to align our programs with common core standards. Each program is written by Rain of Hope, and is mission driven. SCSU is working with us to build curriculum that supports the program. Our programs are not only fun for the students, they are academically enriched.
On an ongoing basis, I meet with administrators in area schools to review Rain of Hope’s programs to ensure we will meet their school’s and students’ needs.
The legwork is getting done, and we are launching our pilot program this Fall. While we work out the details with our pilot school, we are excited to begin accepting online donations. Online donations will help support Rain of Hope’s programs, offsetting costs such as student supplies and the cost of qualified instructors. Please consider making a donation today.
Every raindrop brings hope of new beginnings.
Every person brings hope of endless possibilities.
